Amazing Couple

You know, right? I can't leave my favorite stars alone. I just have to pair them with fine people.
So who do I choose for our amazing yeoja?
It's none other than... (quoting HJW herself) 'kkadonam Hyun Bin-ssi'.
Since they worked together in the hit drama Secret Garden, this loveteam has had a large fanbase. Yup, it's hard to overlook their sizzling chemistry on and off screen.

But do you know why I ship this pairing?
Because I want to believe in fate.
If Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won really end up together, it will be one of the most magical love story ever.
Remember what I quoted from the book 'Wanita Bijak'? Coincidence is a little miracle where God wants to stay anonymous. And with this amazing couple, there are just too many coincidences. I'd like to call it fate.

This beautiful fanmade MV pretty much summarizes those coincidences.

This is really something extraordinary.
First, the movie 'Daddy Long Legs'. Though they never worked directly with each other, Hyun Bin played an imaginary character mirroring Ha Ji Won's character in real life. So basically they were acting as each other. Hello! Sounds familiar? That's exactly what they do 5 years later in 'Secret Garden'. What kind of sorcery is this?
In one of her interview, Ha Ji Won shared, she was reminded by Hyun Bin that they actually worked together in that movie.
(Speaking of acting-as-each-other. I read somewhere that before Hyun Bin entered the marines to fulfill his mandatory military service, Ha Ji Won joked with him, "Do you want to exchange souls? How about I go to military and you stay?" Of course it didn't happen that way. But, later on, HJW got the role in 'The King 2 Hearts' as a military officer!)

Daddy Long Legs

Then, KBS Drama Award...

They won Best Couple Award with their respective partner. Hyun Bin with Sung Yu Ri (from the drama 'Snow Queen') and Ha Ji Won with Jang Geun Suk (from the drama 'Hwang Jin Yi'). Receiving the award on stage, Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won stood next to each other.

Ha Ji Won was also nominated with Kim Jae Won in this category, so the MC asked her who she would honestly pick. While she was thinking, Jang Geun Suk playfully poked her to the side. That's when she bumped into Hyun Bin. Uh Mr. Jang, I know you didn't mean it, but you just made yourself a cupid. She was being asked "Who would you pick?" and you pushed her to Hyun Bin?
That night, both Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won also won Netizen Award. The MCs called them to the stage, "Hyun Bin, Ha Ji Won-ssi imnida." To me, this is one of the most epic moment. Hearing their names mentioned one after another in such a grand event. Looking at them sharing glorious moment on stage.
Who would've thought that 4 years later at SBS Drama Award, they won Netizen Award again and stand together as the best couple for their roles in 'Secret Garden'?

As if that wasn't enough, their handprints were also placed side by side in CGV. Ha Ji Won made hers on June 26, 2005 while Hyun Bin made his on May 4, 2006. The two were lined up next to each other in April 2007. When SeGa fever came along, a representative of CGV said, "People are coming to view movies just to see the two hand mark plaques."

Next coincidence is Good Downloader campaign.
Of all those people, why would they put that man *cough*Hyun Bin*cough* right behind Ha Ji Won? To mathematicians out there, can you find the probability of this particular placement?

Oh, take a look at this gaze too.

That's their story before Secret Garden. They didn't interact much back then. Maybe exchanging formal greeting and that's it. On Secret Garden DVD Interview, Ha Ji Won revealed that she had seen Hyun Bin before SeGa in private/informal occasions, but she only thought, "Oh, that's Hyun Bin-ssi" during those times. However, both of them admitted that they've felt comfortable with each other since the first script reading.

Now, let's move forward to their story during and after Secret Garden. I really have to thank amiyumi1023 for making these MVs. Me boarding this ship -- it all started from these MVs. They're all I need to sail the JB (Jiwonnie-Binnie) ship.

Amazing, aren't they? Told you. This couple is meant to be. Foretold since 2005, and when they finally work together, the project became a huge phenomenon. It means something, don't you think?

If I may say, Secret Garden is just perfect to bind them together. Their characters in this drama are what people associate them with. Ha Ji Won = action, Hyun Bin = chaebol. And the story. You know, right? Joo Won & Ra Im's story actually started years ago, but they both moved on with their lives and forget about it, that is until they met again. See? See? It's as if Ha Ji Won & Hyun Bin were depicting their own story in Secret Garden (well, without all the drama with Madame Boon Hong).
Then it's supported with the right soundtrack, too.

You can lean on me, it must've been hard for you,
you waited so long
Took too long to come back to you
I hope this isn’t just accidental,
My heart knows you first and tells me
I was waiting for you

It was love from long before

I will scream to the world that I love you
I will protect you from now on
Even if my body changes,
My heart is still here
My heart knows you first

(4Men - Reason)

Yea, it took them a while to come back to each other after Daddy Long Legs. Hyun Bin had to date some other girls, and Ha Ji Won? She was busy hurting hersef in dangerous projects. Their meeting in Secret Garden was somewhat accidental, because at first, the role Kim Joo Won was meant for Jang Hyuk. For some reasons (and divine intervention), Jang Hyuk gave up the role and Hyun Bin accepted it.
(I really like what sintame wrote about this. You can read it here.)

That's why I'm glad that Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won sent a flower bouquet to 4Men's concert back in December 2010. 4Men is a big part of Secret Garden OST. They sing 2 songs for the drama (right? correct me if I'm wrong), including my favorite: Reason. Not only did the song grace one of the couple's favorite scenes, THE sit-up scene, it can also become the soundtrack of their life.

The flower bouquet
On the left: "Hyun Bin . Ha Ji Won"
On the right: "4men The Best!"

Now if you ponder about it, why did these 2 stars send only one bouquet of flowers? Saving money?
And why it's Hyun Bin's name first? Based on age and seniority, shouldn't Ha Ji Won's name be written before Hyun Bin's? Well, maybe I'm just reading too much into it. But, kyak! Don't you just wish they'll end up together?
